It was all
glitz and glam when Maisha Magic Bongo (in association with Multi
Choice
Tanzania) unveiled their exciting line-up of new locally produced Swahili
content at a soiree held at Mlimani City, Dar Es Salam, on Friday November 4th,
2016.
This momentous
occasion was not only to introduce all the latest amazing work from local
producers, but also served as a relaunch of this wonderful channel that is
purely aimed at the Tanzanian Swahili viewer.
The content showcased included the airing of the first episode of the
must-watch series “Huba”, teasers from Swahili-dubbed Indian production “Doli”,
wedding extravaganza show “Harusi Yetu” and other teasers which left the guests
with an appetite for more viewing pleasure coming to DStv Channel 160.

According to
the head of Maisha Magic Bongo Barbara Kambogi, this is the first time in
Tanzania that DStv has worked with local producers. “It is such a pleasure for
us to be able to bring this channel to our Swahili audiences, and what better
way to celebrate the channel’s first anniversary than with this wonderful
contribution from our very own producers. For Maisha Magic Bongo, this is just
the beginning because we are fully committed to commissioning even more local
content going forward; and we want to open more doors for our local producers
and actors to be able to shine right here at home and beyond.”
The guest of
honor who thanked Maisha Bongo for this
milestone concluded “We are happy that this is channel is giving our locals the
opportunity not only to showcase their talents, but to encourage other upcoming
producers to keep telling our local stories in an artistic way that only they
can master.”
